A million bullets, almost as large as a person, flying at you from all directions. The source of these dangerous flying projectiles: turrets.
Fifth Column Games are seeking funding to complete War of Omens, a collectible card-builder video game, and their first original IP.
After spending the last few years working on projects such as ‘NBA2K MyLife’, ‘Pawn Stars: The Game’ and ‘Duck Dynasty: Redneck Empire’, Fifth Column Games are seeking funding to complete their first original title, War of Omens.
War of Omens is mixture between deck-builders (Dominion, Quarroris, Thunderstone) and collectible/trading card games (Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon). You will be able to build your deck before you head into a game, but can purchase more cards from a bank during the match. These cards are immediately put into play. Upon being used or destroyed, they will return to your inventory and thus your deck grows as the game progresses.
War of Omens will be a free to play game, although there will be the option to purchase card packs with real world currency. This may make a few of you groan with disappointment, but you can use in-game currency, which you earn from playing matches, to get more card packs too.
When playing War of Omens, you won’t always have access to every single card. Whenever you jump into a game, you will have to select which faction you wanna play; The Vespitole, The Daramek or Metris. Each of them have decks built for different styles of play. For example, while The Daramek start off weak and have to sacrifice beasts for more powerful cards, Metris have the power to make troops switch sides, and conceal themselves from damage.
Fifth Column Games was founded by Andrew Marsh, Adam Lipski and Mike Fahmie. Together they have shipped over 15 titles and have more than 20 years experience in the gaming industry. Combined with the other 12 members of their team, they hope to finish War of Omens in early 2014.
They have 6 days left and aren’t far from their original funding goal, $30,000. As they draw closer to their target, more information will be released about stretch goals that will make the game bigger and better.
